No one saw it coming, not even the Cyclones who had at one point a 9-3 lead. Pitcher Curt LeClair did his best, as he had
a career high 13 K's against the Muckdogs. | |

No one saw it coming. Except Maybe Clinton Quay, who the
night before told Chris Hess his prediction score of 12-9 Muckdogs. By golly, he was right. The Muckdogs took to the plate
first, putting a nice 3 spot on the scoreboard. Those 3 runs proved to be crucial later in the game. The Muckdogs got on board
quickly in the first inning, thanks to some RBI walks forced in. Curt retired the side on strikes, and the Cyclones looked
to take the lead over in the bottom of the 1st. That's exactly what they did, as Chris Suriano went
deep off Clinton Quay early. Kyle LeClair also went deep as outfielder James Strang bobbled the ball and it fell over the
fence. The lack of HRs was the complete opposite the last time these two teams played as the Cyclones racked up 10 HRs.
After some good base running by the Cyclones, they jumped out to an early 6-3 lead. Curt LeClair worked a perfect 2nd inning
not allowing the Muckdogs a run. The bottom of the 2nd inning, the Cyclones jumped ontop of pitcher
James Strang, as Strang left the bases loaded. After manager/player Clinton Quay took out Strang, he put in reliever Dustin
Quay. Dustin inherited the bases loaded with nobody out. Dustin walked in 3 runs (all charged to Strang) and struck out 3
to end the inning. The Cyclones then took a 9-3 lead. Curt LeClair continued to cruise, as he
allowed 1 run in the 3rd, and pitched a scoreless 4th inning. Curt finished the night throwing 6 innings, 13 strikeouts
and 15 walks. In the bottom of the 4th inning, Dustin Quay dazzled the crowd, as he blew by the Cyclone offense striking
out the side. It was the top of the 5th inning things would fall apart for the Cyclones. Curt
began to have control problems, as he put 3 batters on from walks. James Strang made him pay. Strang took a 1-2 slider deep
to LF, everyone knew it was gone the second hit it. Just like that the Muckdogs are back in the game trailing only 9-7. The
Muckdogs put another run 2 runs acorss the board to tie the game at 9-9. Curt then loaded the bases again, with James Strang
up to bat yet again. Strang took the first pitch gone for his 4th Grandslam in 2 games. That gave the Muckdogs a
12-9 lead, a lead they would not relinquish. Dustin Quay continued to put up goose eggs on the board.
The Cyclones could not find a way to hit him as he put across 10 strikeouts in 5 strong innings of work. Dustin Quay ended
the game by striking out all 3 remaining batters and advancing the Muckdogs to the Championship finals vs the Doofus
Shooters. |
