The game was definately close, as it came down to the last batter in the top of the 6th inning. Chris Hess struck out Ben Lamb on an 0-2 Knuckle Curve pitch to give the Doofus Shooters their first franchise Championship.

All Star Game ends in tie, 15-15
After almost 3 hours of game play, everyone finally decided it was time to
stop. The clock was closing in at 12am, and fans were growing restless. It was the #1 Doofus Shooters and the #4 Unknowns versus the #2 Quay's Muckdogs and the #3 Cyclones. The Cyclones and Muckdogs jumped out to a huge lead after the first 3 innings of work. Chris Suriano hit a grandslam in the first inning of play. After 3 innings it was 12-3. The Unknowns and Shooters rallied back, as in the bottom of the 4th, they scored 7 more runs to make it 13-10. After some key walks, the game was now 13-12, heading into the bottom of the 6th. The Unknowns and Shooters rallied yet again and drove in the tying run. In the top of the 9th, Curt LeClair sent a sidearm Riser from Chris Hess deep, for a 15-13 lead. Needing 2 more runs to keep the game alive, the Unknowns/Shooters were able to push across 2 runs again to keep the game alive. That would be all of the scoring for the next 2 hours. Hopefully next years game will turn out better, nobody likes it when an All Star game ends in a tie. It was a fitting end though, both teams matched up well against each other. Can't wait for next year.

Idea's for next years league (updated)
Since the season is pretty much over, I have begun to compile a list of ideas for next year to improve gameplay and make it more enjoyable. Between Ashley and I we came up with a lot of good stuff. Let me know what you think:

1) Video footage of everygame. We have the software and equipment to do highlights of all the games, and store them on the website for people to view. The highlights would include voiceovers and music, just like on television.
2) Moving homeplate. Homeplate would be moved to where my pinic table is (to the left of the old homeplate area). This would make the field almost twice the size, and therefore hopefully actually making it possible to hit a triple, instead of hitting a single and advancing to third on 2 throwing errors like what normally happens.
3) Making the strikezone a solid piece. This idea has already been used, and it seems as if people are in favor of it. The strike zone dimension will be made a tiny bit larger next year, in an effort to get batting averages lowered and make games a little more realistic score wise.
4) Team uniforms. Click to on the button for some examples I was thinking. I have found a place online that sells pretty cool uniforms for about 12 bucks each. The uniforms include: team name on front of shirt, nickname and number on the back. I want to make this mandatory though, to give the league more of a professional look to it. Also I found on the same site, a place for custom made fitted hats. They are 10 bucks a hat, and they won't be mandatory, but would be cool if your team had all the same hats.
5) Adding more teams. More teams = more games = more fun. If we get more teams, we'll need more players. So please advertise for the league during the school year, so maybe we can get people for next summer to play. I was hoping to double the amount of teams for next year, maybe 6 or 8 teams.
6) Scoreboard. My dear friend Ben Lamb is actually constructing a scoreboard now for next years league. Adding a scoreboard to the field would add some coolness to it, and enhance the fun.
7) McCovey's Cove. Already an idea for this year, it just never took shape. Next year I was thinking of adding a small kiddy pool out behind the RF homerun fence, and then creating a sign that would display how many HR balls were hit into the pool.
8) Increase the length of the basepaths. No longer would the pitchers mound be practically ontop of second base. Longer basepaths also means getting those ridiculously high batting averages down.
9) Flood lights. This would allow us to play at night. My friend Tim just gave me a nice set of flood lights to use, this would be sweet to set up and play a game at night. Would make more people available to play games.
10) Have games a set day and time each week. For example, have games every monday and thursday at 5:00pm. Something like that, so you can schedule work around the wiffleball games, and not me scheduling the games around your work. Makes everything much easier.
11) Building another field. Adding a second field would make it more convienant for players to make the games, and make it less of a drive. The idea of making one in rotterdam might work, as many of the players were from that area.
12) Adding a Draft Day. We want to have about 8 teams to our league. If 8 teams, we would need 8 team captains. So we would have the 4 expansion teams pick first from a pool of players, then it would be Melissa's team, then Chris Surianos team, then Clintons team, then Chris Hess's team last because they won the championship. This would add parity to the league, to make the teams even.
13) Moving the pitchers mound back about 2-3 feet. The one thing we noticed from this year, was that there was a lot of strikeouts and not a lot of balls hit into play. We want more action on the field. So by moving the strikezone back, will hopefully help this problem.
14) Not having the teams Ace pitcher, pitch everysingle game. Maybe have it so if he pitches one game, he cannot pitch the next game regardless of how many pitches he threw. This would prevent teams from just using their Ace pitcher to pitch every game, and maybe make games closer.
15) Audio interviews with players about the games, put onto the site. Clinton has the equipment to do this. So we can put on game interviews of players who had great nights at the plate, or interview pitchers who threw 5 shut out innings. Stuff like that.
16) Articles from other people. Clinton had suggested that himself and maybe some other people could post articles on the site to make it more interactive and make it look more professional.

If you guys can think of anything else, let me know. Leave comments in the comment section located on any of the team websites. Thanks.

Roster Transactions as of 7/27/05:
__________________________________________________________________
Unknowns: The Unknowns traded cash and a player to be named later to the Muckdogs for LF Ben Lamb. Lamb is making his major league debut today.
Quay's Muckdogs:
The Muckdogs removed Dave Wolf from the DL, and he makes his return 7/27/05 agains't the Unknowns.
Unknowns
: The Unknowns have made drastic additions to their team, in hopes for a late playoff run. Adding RHP Stephen Esker and RHP Andy Rice to their team. Both could pitch, but were mainly called up from the minors because they can swing the bat.
Doofus Shooters: Dewey DeLisle was traded back to the Doofus Shooters for Clintons mom, and $50,000 in foodstamps.
Quay's Muckdogs: Captain Clinton Quay added two rookies that were called up from double A ball to play for the team. Luke and Dustin Quay. The team purchased their contracts for $97,000.
Unknowns: Newly acquired players Andy Smith, and Zach Atherton added to the Unknowns because of regulation rule 94-b, the Pity rule.
Quay's Muckdogs: Dewey DeLisle was traded from the Doofus Shooters to the Muckdogs for rookie prospect Jaimie Peek.

Injury Update as of 8/11/05:
__________________________________________________________________

Zach Atherton was injured several times during his last game. He pulled his groin, then later fell over the HR fence like a flailing goober and hurt his neck. Zach would have been placed on the 15 day DL, but his team lost so it really doesn't matter anymore.
Chris Hess injured his left leg calf muscle after pitching 7/13/05 against the Cyclones. He has been placed on the 15 day DL and is still scheduled to make his next start.
Chris Hess injured his right hand pitching thumb while doing basic exercises, aka mowing the lawn. Hess is scheduled to pitch Wednesday July 13th at 6:00pm against the Cyclones. The Doofus Shooter medical staff is listing Chris as day to day.
Jen Chrysler injuried her knee on a slide into 2nd base. She was tagged out, but because of her pathetic state of nature on the ground, she was deemed safe. Jen was placed on the 15 day DL
Dave Wolf was placed on the 60 DL with an inflammed shoulder.
